Jesus said, "Take care of the orphans" James 1:27

18 years ago this May 2014 I took my first trip to the Ukraine. On a cold Saturday morning in Brooklyn NY I was standing on the steps of a church with a Ukrainian Pastor friend, Vladimir Samarsky, while our folks were distributing food to Ukrainian families, when I noticed tears running down his cheeks. When I asked the reason for his tears he said, "The children, the children." Thinking he was referring to the children in line with their parents waiting for food I made a reference to how sweet they looked. He immediately said "not them but the orphans." Later that night he would be waiting for me upon my return to the motel from a meeting and tell me of the orphans dying in Ukraine of starvation and sickness due to the lack of medicines. He told me he had received a call from a dear Pastor friend in Ukraine and that 46 children had died in the last few weeks just in one orphanage and the need was dire.

Sleep escaped me that night and in the wee hours of the morning I sat up in bed took my Bible and said, "Ok Lord, what are you trying to tell me?"

My Bible opened to Proverbs 3 and when I got to verse 27 I knew my answer: "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due; when it is in the power of thine hand to do it."

I didn't know what we would call it nor certainly how big it would become but OPERATION MERCY AND LATER FREEDOM VILLAGE UKRAINE WOULD BE BORN THAT NIGHT.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being our partner in the touching of tens and tens of thousands of precious "least of these" orphan lives.

Just an example of how many lives you are touching is the fact that 31,000 Christmas presents and more chocolate than you can imagine was distributed just this past Christmas to precious orphans and needy children thanks to you.

As you look at their faces remember the words of Psalm 27:10, "When my mother and father forsook me; the Lord took me up."

Thank you for giving to the Lord---these are the lives you are saving. Make your own website
